Water Services

We work around the clock to ensure we provide clean and safe water for our people.

Safe drinking water for homes are provided by MWSC on metering basis.

Make sure your premise is completed and easily accessible for MWSC staff, before applying for a water connection.

Applying for a new water connection
  • Filled Application Form for sewer and water services
  • ID card copy of the owner
  • Copy of plumbing drawing of premises
  • Copy of land registry
  • Copy of construction approval from City Council
  • Copy of company registration, if applicant is a company/institution
  • Details of other service(s) provided for the premise, if any

The physical location of any existing connections may be changed at the request of the meter owner.

Applying for a relocation
  • Filled Application for sewer and water services
  • ID card copy of the owner.
  • Copy of land registry (if the registration copy submitted with the initial connection has changed).

Any existing water connection may be disconnected for a temporary period of time or terminated permanently.

Applying for a disconnection/re-connection

  • Copy of land registry (if the registration copy submitted with the initial connection changed).

Meter calibration tests check the functioning of water meters.

Calibration testing fee will be refunded, and the water meter will be replaced for free, if the meter is found to be faulty.

The installation of construction meters is mandatory whenever a new property is being built. These meters are designed to resist damage during construction.

Upon the completion of construction, the property owner has the option to either deactivate the construction meter or convert it into a domestic connection, both of which necessitate the submission of an application form.

Properties exceeding 5 floors will necessitate the use of a booster pump to achieve adequate water pressure. Property owners may request for either a single booster pump or double booster pump system, depending on the scale of water consumption.

Considerations for booster pump
  • Adequate wall space should be available to install booster pump and meters
  • Booster pump and meter installation wall should be plastered
  • Booster and meter installation wall should not be a concrete wall, a column, beam or wall of the lift.
  • Space allocated for booster and meter installation should be ventilated, sheltered, accessible any time and must not be a dark place.
  • Booster should not be located under the staircase or a locked/closed place
  • Trench should be clean and accessible all the time
  • Sewer line should be at least 2’feet away from the trench
  • Trench should have a drain system in case it gets flooded with water

Annual Maintenance Contract Service

From the initial installation of Booster pump customer will receive a Warranty Period of 1 year with no extra cost for Booster System maintenance Service.

After warranty period is over, customer can apply for the Annual Maintenance Contract Service (AMC) which will cover routine maintenance service of the system.

Water service fees are determined to guarantee fairness and affordability, ensuring that revenue from various customer categories adequately supports the maintenance of a modern and effective drinking water system in the Maldives.

Water Service Tariffs

General terms of service
  • Water connections are provided to residences, businesses, and institutions.
  • Service requests must be initiated by the property/entity owner.
  • To be eligible for any services, all outstanding bills must be paid.
  • The property owner is responsible for the water meters and their proper maintenance.
  • Public housing, government-funded flats, and private flats will each have separate connections.
  • Properties exceeding 5 floors will necessitate the use of a booster pump to achieve adequate water pressure.
